May - June 1967 Organised by the city of Amsterdam on 30, 31 May and 1 June, the objective of this sitting was basically to study some aspects of the several problems which can result from continuous and accelerated expansion of the capitals. The city of Amsterdam has presented a study about the questions of urban centralisation and decentralisation. Bonn has got to the bottom of these problems in the field of urbanism. Brussels has more particularly dedicated its report to public and common transport. Luxembourg treated the economical problems concerning the urban extension. Finally, Paris brought up this theme in the field of welcoming equipment. Two important measures were unanimously adopted by the delegations of the six capitals. The first concerned just the general theme of this sitting, the latter concerned the open character of the European community, by which the Union wishes to see the Capitals of the European Community seeking the courses of a positive extension of their community with zeal and in a real dialogue. It is also during this general assembly that a proposition of the technical committee was adopted, inclined to reorganise the works in view to make future plenary sittings more effective. |
